Google Analytics Goal

What is Goal ?
A goal is typically a website page that provides you with climaxing joy when it is visited by your customers. For most, the ultimate goal page is the checkout Thank you page. When your customers land on that page, it means they've bought something from you. Another goal example would be the static Thank You page you've set for a newsletter subscription.

How to set up goals in Google Analytics :
  • Sign into your Google Analytics account. https://google.com/analytics/
  • Click on “Edit” (on the right hand side of the Overview page).
  • Under the “Goals” section, select one of 4 goal sets to create your goal in. (Each set can have up to 5 mini-goals, so you can organize up to 20 mini-goals divided into 4 main goal sets!)  Enter an easily recognizable goal name.
  • Choose between 3 types of goals: URL Destination, Time on Site, or Pages/Visit.

URL Destination :
URL Destination is the most common option and is used when visitors get a specific page to visit. For example, a completed checkout page in an ecommerce site.

Time on Site :
The Time on Site goal type will track users who spend either more or less than a specified amount of time on the site.

Pages/Visit :
Pages/Visit keeps track of people who visit more than, less than or an exact number of pages on the site.
